Now that we have survived the past year without a typhoon in sight, we are anxious to see what the next one will bring. After all, the next typhoon is almost upon us. The first thing we do when we get home from our holidays is to check the weather reports for how much rain we can expect. Once the weather clears up, we look for the best foods to prepare for that upcoming party or gathering.
The Philippines is one of the most important tropical islands in the region, with large, fertile land and a population that is relatively well-educated. That said, one of the biggest dangers in the region is the fact that the residents are largely ignorant of typhoons. This is where a typhoon party planning app comes in. The app lets you create a storm of your own, add photos, and then have those photos be linked to your party to give you the best possible storm.
When you think about it, a typhoon is a very small storm that could end up hitting your party. Unlike a big storm, a typhoon is a smaller storm that can come in and hit a lot harder than you think it will. So if you don’t take precautions, you could end up with a very large and nasty storm.
A lot of people end up having the same experience as me when it comes to typhoons. I know there are people who have had their party plan ruined by a typhoon. It’s hard to think of a small and possibly deadly typhoon you can’t plan for.
Luckily for me, the Philippines is a tropical country, so I know that typhoons are very rare here unless they are big. But I was lucky in that one typhoon that hit in January 2016, killed at least 10 people and left thousands without power. As it turns out, this storm did not have the power to get me, so I had to evacuate an entire town.
I was forced to evacuate a town of about 100K. I’m pretty sure I was the only person who evacuated.
The typhoon in the Philippines also made it all the way to the island of Mindanao. It was due to a long-standing typhoon. It blew out the roof of a building in the city by a mile and left a huge hole in the ground. It hit the ground on top of a nearby building. The area around the hole was covered with a very thick plastic film. It’s not that bad, but I think the film was about 30 inches thick.
The Philippines and the typhoon of the same name.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PIVS) has recently released the first of what they call their year-long Phlippines Volcano Hazard Assessment (PHHA). The PHHA is a joint venture between the university and the city of Davao. It took about seven months to produce. You can check out the full report below.
The PHHA is based on the same study that was done in the Netherlands in 2016. They used a variety of methods and techniques to determine the level of risk of a possible eruption, including geology, soil, geotechnical, radiation, and earthquakes. They found that the volcano that we are looking at on our map is not particularly active.
